Undying Flowers

The past few weeks while preparing for Easter, I gathered inspiring comments and scriptures as one would collect fragrant wildflowers. Each one, a breath of new life …..

heavy-laden with promise.   These undying flowers unlike those we pick,  will never wilt nor turn brown and lifeless and  I would return to them time and again when my days became hectic, that I might quieten my soul.

I needed to remind myself what the Easter season was all about and not just Easter, but daily. Reflecting on these “flowers” whether reading aloud, or quietly, you sense a change..a strengthening..peace..deep joy..renewal….a springtime for the soul.

His name is Jesus..

He is the bright candle in the darkness because He is the Light of life. His love has no limits;  His grace has no measure;  His power no end.  He bore our sorrows and griefs;  He is our portion and a very present help in time of trouble. He spoke, and framed the world. Death could not keep Him; He is infinite, eternal and full of majesty.

He is the Keeper of our hearts; Lover of our Soul. Music to the poet, the first artist, the worshipper’s song. His name has been whispered by thousands upon thousands of dying soldiers on the battlefields of the ages.

He is sweeter than all the flowers; He is the undying flower. He restores; rescues; forgives; and redeems. He is our shield;our Rock; our Defender;  Counselor; Friend. He was the Bread of Life before there was any grain. He was the Rock of Ages before the mountains were formed. He is the Lily of the valley..the undying flower..

He is the greatest teacher the world has ever known, and He is the Baptizer of the Holy Spirit. He went to the cross and through His shed blood became our salvation. His agony became our Hope.

He spoke and gave life to the dead; healing to the sick; strength to the weak; and forgiveness to the sinner. He brings comfort to the oppressed; hope to the hopeless, and help to the helpless.

He planted the tree from which His cross would be carved and placed the iron ore in the heart of the earth from which nails would be cast.

He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords…
